Gorge

Crocheting animals is harder than it looks.

After several failed attempts and many re-starts, I finally completed the gift I have been crocheting for my nephew.  I will not even pretend to possess the oh-so-powerful knowledge of what a 3 year old boy likes...but I tried to channel some toddler energy and decided monsters are always a hit.

Gorge the Monster
(obviously a K-State fan becuase of his lovely shade of purple.)

You might be...

If, at a fancy work banquet for a large trucking company (surrounded by your co-workers) you get excited because your name was called when they were drawing for the door prizes, and think you might have won the large flat screen TV, one of 2 kindle fires, digital camera, blue ray player, or various gift cards...

...and realize instead that you've won the ginormous flower arrangement from the entryway of the hotel, you might be a Stone.

Ruidoso

My trip to NM was definitely memorable. I spent alot of time getting closer the fabulous women (and my father in law, the resident male) in my new family.  There were tears, broken sunroofs, laughter, river walking, deer spying, turkey chasin', natural disasters, laughter, and most of all, lots of love.

The cabin in Upper Canyon in the Ruidoso Mountians

It is a tradition to put on red lipstick and try and get a kiss from a hummingbird

Our trip was dominated by the huge forest fire that caused us to be evacuated from the cabin...

...to the house in town.

(This is smoke, not clouds.)

The fire at night

I have to say...although it was tragic, the fire was simply amazing to watch. It reminded me that we are really not in control of anything. Praise God there were no lives lost.

Baby Birds!!

Our baby birds have arrived :)

Nesting

I feel so honored that we have a birds nest in our tree! And she made such pretty eggs.

...you might be a Stone.

If you're in the bathroom and realize you're looking at the "perfect place" he found to put the cylinder heads for his engine...you might be a Stone.

I gotta give him credit - atleast he wrapped 'em up. :)

funny or sad?

Some puppies, like this big fella, don't like laothe would rather die hate going to the vet.

This reminds me of another scared-y-dog named Norman...after running out of the vet's office like a bat out of hell, he proceeded to gallop towards the frontage road for I-35 as three vet worker ladies and the vet (bless their hearts) ran after him in their scrubs. As you can imagine, I was MORTIFIED. Our new vet "protocol" is this: I call ahead, park around back, and one of the workers props open the back door of the office and together we slip him in as quickly as we can...as far away from the interstate as we can get. Then we stand in the back hallway next to the surgery suite, out of sight of the front lobby, until it's our turn to be seen.  sheesh.

I'm going to tell myself that kids aren't this hard to deal with.
