Small One
Whatever happened to the good ol' days when our TV shows were so full of heart they made parents cry and influenced kids to become people of outstanding moral character? I had never seen this until a friend shared it with me. And it came with a warning..."You will cry your eyes out it's so good." I wish I could find 100 more stories like it. Oh wait - that would be the bible.
No matter how our journey seems to us, God has a plan. Even for the beasts. God does according to His will both in the armies of heaven and the inhabitants of the earth. (Dan. 4:35)
On an unrelated note, does anyone else think the kid could be Mowgli's great great great grandfather?

male model
Poor Norms. He really hates being a model. He rotates between laying down immediately, running away, or refusing to look at me.
I really need to find more willing subjects to practice on.

Cold Dog
On cold mornings, while I'm waiting for my clothes to warm up in the dryer before I put them on, I turn on the heater, and read for a few minutes. He inches closer...and closer...trying desperately to push me out of the way and get his nose near the warm air.
i love this dog.

Thanksgiving
So much to be thankful for!!
God has truly blessed our family greatly. I hope you had a wonderful and restful holiday this year!
We started off the trip to Kansas on thursday with a Thanksgiving lunch feast fit for a Whatahusband ;)
Then spent some time with my mom and sisters/husbands...and these 3 beautiful kiddos. Don't let the blue football hand-me-down outfits fool you... (Can you tell they have an older brother and a resourceful mom?) these babies are all girl.
Getting 2 infants and a 3 year old to smile at the same time is HARD. Behind the camera is a gaggle of happy smiles, clapping, and "look over here!!"'s
I kept thinking to myself...2 outa 3 ain't bad. :)
Atleast I knew I wouldn't have to entice Granberry into enjoying this moment!

What is your chief desire?
What is your chief desire??
Whatahusband and I have been asking each other this question alot lately because we are house hunting, and if you were to ask me what I want more than anything else I would say "dark carpet that hides stains and an oven built into the wall." Sheesh. What small, unimportant things. What do I want that really matters? I would love to be more patient, more fun to be around. Quicker to love and slower to anger. To smile more. More kindness. I want to live a life worthy of Christ, and to have a happy and healthy family. I want to be a wife worthy of praise; to me a mom someday.
We all want something. Would it surprise you to know that desire and insecurity are connected? It doesn't surprise me because insecurity is my issue...a familiar beast on my back. It's that thing that God keeps bringing back to my heart time and time again, and just when I think I am getting the hang of it? Bam, it hits me again. How I long to be rid of it forever, and thank you God! I have a mighty Healer on my side.
I share these videos not as a person who knows, but someone who knows where to go when I don't have the answers! To the Word.
I couldn't figure out how to get these videos to load onto my blog directly, but each link will take you to the Beth Moore segment from another blog. I just love Beth Moore. She seems to be a very real person, and really never get tired of her bible studies. I hope you enjoy this as much as I did!

A note on time: Although each video is listed as being 30 minutes long, the teaching part is only about 10-15 min per video. The stuff before and after her speaking can be skipped. :)

50mm 1:18
I am s l o w l y getting the hang of my camera, and I have very high hopes of capturing my family...especially the 5 wiggly nephew/nieces...in some keep-worthy photos over the holidays. I am trying out a new portrait lens, and so far it's been tough to adjust to. It has a very short depth of field, which is great if you want to get photos with beautiful blurry backgrounds. But, since the focus depth is so shallow, it's tricky to get the intended subject to be crystal clear. Practice makes perfect, or so they tell me.
Since we don't have kids, I don't have any living subjects to practice on. Well, no willing subjects I should say. Whatahusband would rather me take pictures of his car than him, and norman can only take so much before he wants to be left alone to nap in peace.

One day maybe I'll take the perfect picture of Norman's ridge - it's so beautiful.
Ah! This is a new text addition to our house. I was told about this quote by a good friend of mine, and when I heard it, I gasped. I need reminders that God should be in our happiness as much as our sadness. I just LOVE it.
"If God has made your cup sweet, drink it with Grace.
But if he has made it bitter, drink it in communion with Him."
Oswald Chambers
