What the.....

For those of you following the "I want precious kitties that are feral but love me like they're house cats" adventure, be prepared for a shocker....MUNGO CAME BACK. Don't believe me? I have pictures of him in the kitty brownstone. He disappeared sunday night....came back this morning. Just hopped out of the tree like nothing ever happened. Not a scratch on his body or a fur out of place. After I picked up my jaw from the ground, Munch (the white boy kitty who has been meowing in grief) proceeded to chase Mungo away from the porch in anger. I guess he was pretty peeved about the 4 days of worry he had been through. And how is Toonces? Barely noticed Mungo was gone, happy to nap in the house she has now dubbed as "hers".

So, the tally board is heavy at 3....again. Praise God for these little miracles.

Brick kitty house

Sadness has come to our feral kitty adventure. Mungo (the black and white) has disappeared. We searched and called, to no avail. My only hope is that if he's not in heaven, that he's found a new home with better food. Preferably a cat lady that cooks real chicken and feeds on china plates.

The most heartbreaking part, other than missing him, is Munch, the other boy. He has begun meowing constantly. It is absolutely heartbreaking. He has also started wanting to be pet alot, too. When I crouch down, he rubs all over my legs and lap, purring and meowing. Its sweet, and sad. He misses his friend.

Well, in order to sleep at night (munch disappeared during the night) I have built Fort Stone, a brick kitty house designed to ease my worry and keep them safe from predators. I am sooooo thankful that they love it in there, and I'm already planning on adding on when they get bigger.

So here are my 2 happy, almost back to themselves, kitties - Toonces and Munch, the Siamese twins!

The free three

So, it happened. All three kitties are now loose. And they couldn't be happier! Toonces is all healed up - thanks to some honey ham laced with antibiotics. I was VERY nervous they would run off, but they haven't ventured too far from the porch.... yet. Toonces is the one who creep-crawles through the yard the most, but all three will chase hoppers out into the yard. We have many dead grasshoppers and locusts on the porch. We're taking bets on who'll bring in the first mouse.

My absolute favorite thing is finding them when they are napping. Trees, lawnmowers, norman's nap mat, norman's house (he really hates that), gutters on the roof, these are all prime napping areas. I love these kitties!!

Love thoughts

Read this blog link. Just do it.  She says it perfectly.  I am filled with thankfulness when I read her words, and I hope it inspires you to search for a man who loves well if you don't have one, and say a prayer of thanksgiving to the One who gave you yours if you do.

2 out, one to go.

Poor sweet lil' toonces is still in the sick bay (aka "this sucks bay") because her spay incision is not healing quick enough. It could be because she keeps ripping the scab off. I'm convinced she thinks if it's off, she can go out and play with the boys. We've got some antibiotics now and she'll be on her way outside!....in 10 days.

And then, ...what's that? Is that a clatter? I just heard something scamper across the roof. It sounds like the prancing and pawing of 8 tiny kitty feet...

Released!

The time has come to release my sweet feral kitties back into the wild. Munch and Mungo (the boys) recovered from their snip-snip surgery very quickly and have been 2 huge balls (pun intended) of energy ever since. Toonces is still recovering and will join her brothers in a few days.

They grow up so fast!!

Going wild

The time has come to let the kitties loose in the mudroom during the day. They are getting too playful for the dog crate. i.e. i'm tired of cleaning up litter all over their cage, and outside it for that matter, after a night of wild kitty games. So, out they came. They were fascinated with the black basket for a long time, then Toonces decided to launch herself off the countertop (very true to her name, i might add....Heights do not bother her one bit.) and sat peacefully in the corner while the boys acted like hormonal teenagers. Typical. Mungo's favorite game (today) is hiding in the crate & waiting for an unsuspecting kitty to walk by. Munch's new trick is killing a wolf spider! He pounced on it, and seemed so accomplished. Toonces is just cute. ;)
